Site Engineer\nAbout the Role\nA leading organisation within the UK utilities and infrastructure sector is seeking a Site Engineer to support the delivery of major infrastructure and electricity projects based just outside Edinburgh. This role will focus on setting out, quality assurance, site supervision, and supporting the successful delivery of construction activities in line with project specifications and programme requirements.\nWorking closely with Site Managers, Project Managers, and construction teams, you will help ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards while maintaining accurate engineering and site records.\nYou will play a key role in supporting day-to-day site operations, carrying out engineering activities, monitoring installation quality, and ensuring all works are completed in accordance with project requirements and industry standards.\nKey Responsibilities\n * Carry out setting out activities and engineering duties as directed by the Site Manager.\n * Support the delivery of construction works across utility and infrastructure projects.\n * Monitor site activities to ensure works are completed in accordance with approved drawings and specifications.\n * Review and check Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and quality documentation.\n * Ensure site installations meet project specifications and quality requirements.\n * Maintain accurate site records, engineering reports, and as-built information.\n * Assist with surveying and measurement activities as required.\n * Support quality control procedures and identify any non-conformances.\n * Liaise with site teams, subcontractors, and project stakeholders to ensure efficient project delivery.\n * Promote high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance across all site activities.\nAbout You\nYou are an experienced Site Engineer with a background in utilities, infrastructure, civil engineering, or energy projects and are confident working in a hands-on site-based role.\nYou enjoy working closely with construction and delivery teams, ensuring engineering activities are completed accurately and in line with project requirements.\nYou are organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable working within a fast-paced project environment while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.\nEssential Experience & Qualifications\n * Proven experience working as a Site Engineer within utilities, infrastructure, construction, or energy projects.\n * Experience carrying out setting out and site engineering activities.\n * Strong understanding of quality assurance and quality control processes.\n * Experience reviewing Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and site documentation.\n * Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.\n * Experience maintaining accurate site records and as-built information.\n * Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with site teams and subcontractors.\n * Knowledge of health and safety requirements within construction environments.\n * Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.\n * Full UK driving licence\nDesirable:\n * Previous experience working on utility, electricity, or infrastructure projects.\n * Exposure to substations, electricity distribution, or HV-related projects.\n * Relevant engineering qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction, or a related discipline.\n * Experience working under NEC contracts.\n * Background within utilities, energy, construction, or infrastructure sectors.\nRole: Site Engineer\nLocation: Edinburgh\nContract: 12-Month Contract\nWorking Pattern: Full-Time – Site Based\nRate: £300–£400 per day\nIf you're looking to develop your career within site engineering and support the successful delivery of critical infrastructure and utility projects, send your CV to Jovita at VIQU Energy today.\nGet in touch with VIQU Energy for a private discussion about this role.
